with Joni Mazzie Creating functional art pieces to treasure or give as a gift. Workshops will consist of learning about coil and/or slab techniques with a little bit of clay history thrown in. Clay Critters

with Jamie DeNoia Ceramic pottery for all skill levels welcome. Subject matter revolving around animals and the natural world, projects will go along with skill level and ideas presented. Hand building and wheel thrown pieces for either or both functional and sculptural pieces. Class will also go over different surface design treatments in the ceramics process along with a brief history of craft. (Bonus facts about animals!) Bring your creativity, ideas and spirit animal!

Writing the Everyday
Writing the Everyday

with Chris Liek Over the course of the class, we'll read and reflect on pieces of poetry, fiction and nonfiction that lie in the everyday truth and beauty of our lives, the places we're from and the work we do. Creative Writing Workshop

with Alexis Collazo A generative prompt-based writing workshop with supportive and encouraging feedback. Prompts are provided as inspiration for 5-20 minute writing sessions. Participants can share their writing and receive feedback from the group if they choose. Tapestry Weaving
Tapestry Weaving

with Amanda Seanor In this four week class, learn the basics of tapestry weaving using a small tapestry loom and different weaving structures. Leave the class with your own small finished tapestry and the loom to keep you going. Indigo Shibori Dyeing
Indigo Shibori Dyeing

with Rowan Shaffer Shibori dyeing (the predecessor to tie-dyeing) is the Japanese art of dyeing textiles. This class will cover the basics of dyeing with indigo (the traditional dye used to create shibori dyed textiles) as well as the basic techniques used to create shibori patterns. 4 weeks / Tuesdays June 29 - July 20 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM $80 (member) $105 (non-member) Please include $10 material fee.

Silkscreen Printing

with Rowan Shaffer ​ In this class, we will cover how to silkscreen print artwork and textiles using easily-accessible methods. Each week will cover a new project. Students will learn single and multi-color printing and how to print fabric yardage. with Rowan Shaffer In this class, students will learn how to make hand-stitched blank sketchbooks via a variety of methods such as long stitching and Coptic stitching. with Stacey Faustner In this class, we will explore hand built pottery. We will use coiling techniques to make two different types of projects. The first day we will create a coil. The next day we will glaze the coil pots and create a hand built phone speaker amplifier. Creative Nonfiction- Memoir

with Chris Liek Everyone has a story to tell. And because of that we all have the ability to make a connection with our readers. This class will focus on transferring our lives and experiences to paper and possibly uncovering something about ourselves we never knew before. Students will read a variety of short memoirs and generate their own to workshop and share in a safe, confidential and exciting space. 5 weeks / Tuesdays July 27 to August 24 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM $65 (member) $90 (non-member)

Hazleton Art League staff and/or Board of Directors cannot be held liable for personal injury or damage to or loss of personal property. The submission of the registration form cites understanding of this clause. 

I understand the Hazleton Art League is not responsible for typographical errors in regards to the schedule. 

REFUNDS: No refunds for cancellations less than 10 days before classes begin. A $10.00 administrative fee will be charged for all cancellations. Classes we cancel will be refunded in full. Classes canceled due to the weather or other unforeseen causes may run an extra week to make up for the day(s) missed. 

REMINDER: Please mark your calendars with the dates and times of the classes you have chosen. We will send a confirmation email as your receipt of registration once payment for class(es) has been received.

Scholarships are available

for children and senior citizens to take classes at the Hazleton Art League!


Thanks to a grant from the Rotary Club, we can provide art scholarships to senior citizens in the Hazleton Area.

Senior scholarships cover 60% of class fee for seniors age 62 and older.


We also have a need based scholarship for children made possible by the Dorothy Sacco Memorial Fund.

Youth scholarships cover 50% of the class fee.
