Traditional Drawing Fundamentals
This class is based on proven training exercises that date back to the Renaissance when artists like Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci created masterpieces. The legacy of the great masters between the 14th and 19th centuries has been passed down from teacher to student through the atelier/workshop tradition for hundreds of years and this is the foundation of drawing realistic three-dimensional form. It focuses on the understanding of drawing materials and different drawing techniques. It covers blocking in general shapes before defining them with more detail and finishing them up with tones to give the illusion of light and shadow. Classical traditional training teaches a step-by-step system that lets you draw any subject with confidence, including a landscape, still life, portrait, or figure.
The Traditional Drawing Fundamentals course will help the student:
-
Know your materials better
-
Feel more confident when starting a drawing, painting or sculpture.
-
See your subjects with greater clarity and understanding
-
Get more predictable and consistent results
-
Expand your vision for what you can achieve as an artist
-
Feel connected to a community of fellow artists.

Fused Glass Jewelry
In this course we will cut and assemble glass into a piece that will be fired in a kiln. We start with a tac fuse and then move onto full fuse. The use of dichroic glass, which is a metal coated glass that was developed for the space industry gives the glass a special glow and turns the plain glass into a beautiful piece of jewelry. The dichroic glass has two colors, a transmitted and reflective color. When the student has made several pieces we finish them either with a bale or wire wrap. More advanced students can do watch bands, bracelets and casting in molds. Beginner to advanced welcome. Students purchase tools and supplies on their own, list is provided by the instructor.
